WHY CAN'T THEY JUST GET TOGETHER ALREADY?
We're playing matchmaker and pairing celebrities up who we think
would be perfect for each other. Whether it's because they're friends in real
life, like Ellen and Alexander, or because they have common interests, like
fellow young wilder-outers Justin and Miley, or just because they'd look
smokin' hot together, like George and Sandra, these are five celebrity couples
we wish would happen in real life. We hope you're listening (you can thank us
in your wedding speech later).
They've been lighting up the Venice Film Festival red carpet
together for their movie, Gravity, and acting adorable for the
photographers. He kissed her hand, she wiped his brow. Not only is their photo
chemistry intense, but they would make such a handsome couple. Move over, Posh
and Becks, Gisele and Tom — George and Sandra will be the best-looking couple
in Hollywood. We really, really hope.
Alexander Skarsgard and Ellen Page
Ellen Page and Alexander Skarsgard fueled rumors of a romance
when she posted an Instagram pic of her leaning on him while he kissed her
head, inducing an "awww" heard around the world. However, a source
confirmed that they're just friends, crushing our hopes. The best foundation
for a relationship is a solid friendship, right? But seriously, how
ridiculously cute would they be?
Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus
Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus have both exhibited some wild and
questionable behavior recently. He peed into a mop bucket and caused a ruckus,
she twerked all over Robin Thicke and caused a ruckus. Why not join forces and
wreak havoc together? With his shirtlessness and her pantslessness combined, I
don't even want to know what kind of trouble these two could get into.
Even though Tom Cruise and Demi Moore don't really run in the
same circles, they might hit it off as a couple. They're less than a year apart
(he's 51, she's turning 51 in a few months) and both were dumped by much
younger spouses somewhat recently, so maybe it's time for them to try dating
someone their own age. They could reminisce about the 80s and actually know
what each other was talking about.
Keanu Reeves and Kristen Stewart
This may seem like an odd pairing, but hear me out. He's
perpetually sad and sometimes looks homeless sitting on a bench in his tattered
jeans; she rarely smiles and more than occasionally dresses like a hobo. But
they're both incredibly good-looking underneath all that misery, so why
shouldn't Keanu Reeves and Kristen Stewart brood and go shopping at Goodwill
together?
And later that day...
Robert
Pattinson and Dane DeHaan were
recently tapped to join director and photographer Anton Corbijn's
new film, Life, about a pivotal LIFE Magazine interview in 1955
that sparked a road trip and friendship between photojournalist Dennis Stock
and iconic American actor James Dean. Corbijn, who has a long history of
collaboration withTom Waits, makes a natural fit with the story of photographer
and performer relating.
'CRIMSON PEAK'
CASTS TOM HIDDLESTON, THINKS LOKI IS SCARIER THAN SHERLOCK
Guillermo del
Toro has filled a Sherlock-shaped hole in his newest film,Crimson Peak,
with Tom Hiddleston,
best known as Loki in the Thorand Avengers movies.
Hiddleston replaces Benedict
Cumberbatch, whodropped out from the Gothic ghost story last month.
Neither Hiddleston nor Cumberbatch have commented on the switch, but Hiddleston
is sure to be grilled on his role when he begins promotion for Thor: The Dark World,
released in November.
While both Hiddleston
and Cumberbatch are tall Brits with plenty of nerd cred, Cumberbatch tends be
more serious, while Hiddleston is
gleefully and goofily embracing his supervillain status. Another similarity
— both actors appeared in Steven Spielberg's War Horse. Both
also have a hugely passionate legion of (largely female) fans. But what likely
caught del Toro's eye was their shared experience working in small British
dramas, hoping to make this film a combination of classical romance and bloody
horror. So far, all del Toro's been willing to reveal is that the film is a
ghost story about a young woman whose husband "is not who he appears to
be."
Joining Hiddleston are
Charlie Hunnam, reteaming with del Toro after this summer's Pacific Rim,
Mia Wasikowska, and Jessica Chastain, all similarly gifted actors who are
capable of making simple marital strife interesting before anything
supernatural appears. But del Toro seems determined to run them through the
ringer, citing in an interview both the film's "very visceral, physical
violence," and "a lot of kinky moments." Let's hope Hiddleston
is up to the challenge.
LEONARDO
DICAPRIO EFFING LOVES TO CITI BIKE — PHOTO
There are a few things
we know to be true about Leonardo DiCaprio: he had the most
attractive "awkward stage" we've ever seen, he should have won an
Oscar by now, and Kate Winslet never should have let him go. And now we can add
another important item to the list: the man f**king loves to Citi Bike.
Since New York City
launched its bike-sharing program in May, DiCaprio has been seen astride the
brilliant blue frame numerous times. And it's awesome. What can he say? Leo
cares about the environment. Here's your photographic proof:
September
4, 2013
August
28, 2013 — Actor/friend Lukas Haas likes a little Citi Bike, too.
August
19, 2013
And later that day...
And there you have it,
folks. Leonardo DiCaprio making socialist transportation movements attractive,
one blue bicyle at a time.

ROBERT
PATTINSON AND DANE DEHAAN TAKE A ROAD TRIP IN JAMES DEAN'S 'LIFE' STORY
Pattinson will be playing the
conservative Stock, while DeHaan will be taking on the role of troubled actor
Dean. After proving himself a more than capable performer in both In
Treatment and last year's breakoutChronicle, DeHaan signed
on to the Sony's new Amazing Spider-Mansequel to play Harry Osborn,
a role brought to life by James Franco in the early 2000s. Now, DeHaan is set
to star in another role once played by Franco, who embodied
Dean in a TV movie in 2001. As far as actors go, Franco's not a terrible
inspiration. His résumé may be long,
eclectic, and feature a few too many episodes of General Hospital,
but even when he's starred in flops (and there's been a fair share of flops)
he's usually doing something either new or interesting. What's next? DeHaan on
spring break (4eva)? DeHaan as a Flyboy? DeHaan selling invisible art on
Kickstarter? DeHaan playing himself in one of the funniest movies of summer
2023?
Let's not forget about Pattinson.
First of all, it's nearly impossible to with all the speculation over the
relative broken/unbrokeness of his relationship with Kristen Stewart. Second,
he's expressed a desire to do something different and interesting with his
post-Twilight work, and this fits right in. He's starred in one
David Cronenberg film (Cosmopolis) and just finished another (A Map
to the Stars). And The Rover, which should be released later
this year, is a dark and gritty crime story that. Those fiercely independant
choices combined with Life might finally put the Twilight sparkle
to rest for good.
HAYAO MIYAZAKI, THE KING OF
ANIME, RETIRES
The anime genre just became a little
less imaginative.
Hayao Miyazaki, the Academy Award-winning director and
co-founder of the Japanese animation Studio Ghibli, will retire after his
latest film,The Wind Rises, premieres at the Venice International Film
Festival. Koji Hoshino, the president of Studio Ghibli, made the announcement
over the weekend in Venice and at the studio's official website. Miyazaki's
magnificent film career has spanned over five decades, and directed 20
feature-length and short films, which culminated with a Best Animated Feature
Oscar for Spirited Away.
Japanese anime has often been
plagued by content that often caters to the minds of adolescent teenaged boys.
Miyazaki offered a respite from all of that with his films that possessed depth
and complexity typically not found in family films. They dealt with themes
about adolescence, feminism, environmentalism, and pacifism. His films often
centered around a strong, intelligent female character, and villains were often
complicated souls who were never wholly evil or malicious. Thoughtful and
playfully nonsensical at times, Miyazaki's films were all magical rides of
imaginations with memorable and inventive stories.
Miyazaki's
latest effort, The Wind Rises, is a fictionalized account of Jiro Horikoshi, an
engineer who designed fighter planes for the Japanese during World War II and
shows the director's typical anti-war stance. Although Miyazaki may continue to
work on shorter and smaller projects, let's hope the animation directior hasn't
colored in his last cel for good.
ANGELINA GETS OSCAR'ED:
ANGELINA JOLIE, STEVE MARTIN, AND ANGELA LANSBURY RECEIVE HONORARY OSCARS
As fun as it is, there's nothing
more maddening than watching the Oscars. No one you really want to win ever
actually does — it’s like the ultimate abusive relationship. You hope beyond
hope that your favorite performace or movie gets credit but you know it never
will. Yet every spring, you still tune in to cheer for your favoirites... and
then go on the Internet after and complain about the results. You just can’t
quit them.
The one area that the Oscars usually
get it right, however, is with the honorary awards. In fact, the winners of the
honorary awards are usually people that deserved Oscars 30 years ago so it was
really about time anyway. This year, the academy is honoring Angelina
Jolie with The Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award in November.
While Jolie seems pretty young for the award, she has made it her personal
mission to save the world with her humanitarian work and definitely deserves
it. The lifetime achievement awards will be given to Steve Martin andAngela
Lansbury, both of whom have had amazing film careers but have yet to
win a prize. Steve Martin has hosted the Oscars so many times that he probably
should have already gotten one by default.
THE CURIOUS CASE OF CHRIS
HARDWICK
Look at that face. Is that the face
of a 41-year-old? No. Chris
Hardwickis clearly 17. But take a look at his IMDB page and you'll
see that he's been hosting shows since 1993. 20 years ago. So that
means he must be aging backwards. Regardless of how his face is aging, you've
probably seen it all over the place throughout the years. Let's journey
together through a retrospective of Chris Hardwick's career.
Hardwick broke onto the scene and
shot into young girls' hearts as co-host of MTV's wildly popular dating show Singled
Out in 1995. His dynamic with Jenny McCarthy as the nerdy funny guy and the hot chick
who can throw down was a winning combination, so much so that he caught the
attention of Aussie model and The Real World: London cast
member Jacinda Barrett, whom he was engaged to but never married.
Since Singled Out, he's
accumulated a laundry list of steady hosting gigs and acting roles. In 1998, he
starred on UPN's comedy Guys Like Us, and appeared in Rob Zombie's House
of 1,000 Corpses in 2003 andHalloween II in 2009.
From 2007 to 2011, he voiced Otis the Cow for Nickelodeon's Back at the
Barnyard, and is currently the voice of Craig on Sanjay and Craig.
And those are just a few of his acting gigs.
Perhaps the most prolific host,
talking-head personality, and cameo-maker of the last 20 years, Hardwick has
appeared on everything fromMTV Spring Break to Hollywood
Squares to Boy Meets World. Some regular gigs he's had
where he just shows up and is himself include The Late Late Show With
Craig Ferguson, Chelsea Lately, and Late Night With
Jimmy Fallon. Concurrent with Chelsea Lately and Jimmy
Fallon, he hosts Talking Dead and Talking Bad,
companion shows to the two AMC giants, Walking Dead and Breaking
Bad. Where does he have the time to do all this?
Besides his many TV appearances and
acting roles, he is the co-president of Legendary Films' digital division,
which incorporated his former media network, Nerdist. And as if that weren't
enough, starting this fall, Hardwick will host a half-hour comedic panel show
called@Midnight four nights a week literally at midnight. All of
this raises the question: when does Hardwick sleep? And how does he age so well
without getting any shut-eye? Could he be a living, breathing key to the
fountain of youth? Maybe, maybe not, but he certainly is a hard-working and entertaining
guy.
ROBERT DE NIRO MASTERS THE ART OF THE F-BOMB IN NEW RED BAND TRAILER FOR 'THE FAMILY'
Ah... Robert De Niro using
the f-word... it just feels right. It's like coming home after a long vacation.
The trip might have been nice, but you only get to truly call one place your
own. And De Niro's home is in those four little letters. There have been
previous trailers for The Family, but this newest red band trailer ratchets
up the colorful language to its blissful peak, and turns the f-bomb into an
expressive piece of art. Bobby D hasn't had a role in a while that has really
let him get down and dirty, but The Family looks
like the movie that will turn all that PG-13 nonsense around. Most importantly,
it looks like the legendary actor is finally having some fun at the movies
again.
In the film, De Niro plays Fred Manzoni, an old school
Brooklyn wise guy who gets himself and his family shipped to France when they
have to enter the Witness Protection Program. Of course, all four members of
the family have to deal with the massive culture shock, and old mob habits
definitely die hard. The black humor in this trailer makes The Family look like a great comeback for De
Niro. Not that he ever truly went away; he's maintained great titles like Silver Linings Playbook,
but there's something nostalgic about seeing the actor play a sleezy mobster
with a penchant for swearing. In this role, it seems like he's wrapped up his
whole mob filmography, from The Godfather Part II to Goodfellas, into
one expletive-ladden victory lap. Welcome back, Mr. De Niro. Welcome the f**k
back.
THE NEXT 'TERMINATOR' FILM
Alan Taylor, director of the
upcoming superhero flick Thor: The
Dark World, and director of several Game of Thrones episodes
(some of the show's best ones at that) has officially snagged directing duty
for the upcoming Terminator film. Taylor's previous work with Thor andThrones displays
his particular talents for fantasy filmmaking.
Besides his work in genre film and
television, Taylor has worked on pretty much every HBO show of note, including Sex
and the City, Six Feet Under, Deadwood, OZ,
and Boardwalk Empire among others. While Thor 2 is
only his first massive film project, it will undoubtedly give him the
experience necessary to direct the futuristic sci-fi spectacle that the new
terminator project is sure to be.
According to Variety,
other directors including Rian Johnson, Ang Lee, and Denis Vileneuve were
targeted, but it fell to Taylor to continue the Terminator saga, which started
almost 30 years ago with the James Cameron original.
Taylor delivered the mythical
grandeur of Asgard, and the quiet desolation of Harrenhal, but how will he
capture the apocalyptic wasteland that awaits us when our Roombas become
sentient and start killing their fleshy masters? Only time will tell.

in by Kanye West

the changes that her boyfriend Kanye West has brought in her lifestyle.
Kim, who recently gave birth to her first child with Kanye, was initially unhappy about his possessive behaviour.

Los
Angeles: Actress Naomi Watts, who plays lead role in forthcoming biopic
`Diana`, hopes the story of the movie has been told in a respectful and
sensitive manner.

Reid, 38, is known for dressing like a woman called Roxanne, who is said to be his alter- ego.

Amitabh Bachchan's classic songs
enlivens 'KBC 2013' opener
New
Delhi:Singer Sonu Nigam`s lively rendition of some of megastar Amitabh
Bachchan`s choicest chartbusters - `Saara zamaana haseeno ka deewana` and
`Dilbar mere`, added entertainment value to the opening episode of reality game
show `Kaun Banega Crorepati`, which returned to the small screen in a bigger
and better avatar Friday night.
The show is in its seventh edition, and it is called `Kaun Banega Crorepati 2013`. Like all seasons, the buzz for the opener was well-built by the channel via hoardings and innovative promotional teasers.
Sonu opened the show with some hit numbers, and Amitabh entered the set when the singer crooned `Intehaan ho gai intezar ki`. The duo later performed together on peppy tracks like `Mach gaya shor saari nagri mein"` and `Yamma yamma`, much to the delight of several viewers who had been awaiting the show since long.
Amitabh then took the show forward, saying he will take viewers on the `Kaun Banega Crorepati` journey for 13 weeks. He also introduced the audience to the alterations in the show`s format and details of the revised jackpot prize money of Rs.7 crore.
The first 10 contestants on the new season saw an equal number of men and women. Big B then informed them that getting a chance to sit on the `hot seat` has become more challenging as `Fastest finger first` round has been modified.
It will now be called `Best out of three`, wherein three questions will be asked and the average of the total time taken will decide who will come face-to-face with the 70-year-old quizmaster.
Preeti Panwar from Haryana was the first contender to occupy the hot seat, and she quit the show, taking home Rs.25 lakh only.
Amitabh took her and the viewers through the new format, which gives contestants five lifelines - `audience poll` and `phone a friend` will continue as lifelines, `flip the question` has returned in place of `ask the expert`, and `50:50` has replaced `double dip`. The latest addition is `power paplu`, which can help to revive any used lifeline.
Also, the duration for the `Phone a friend` call is now 45 seconds.
After Panwar, another woman, Sushma Mishra made it to the hot seat. Just when she won Rs.80,000, the hooter rang. Sushma`s game will continue on the KBC 2013 episode Saturday.
Another key change on the show was its set - the earlier circular set has now become rectangular, and it is backed by interesting LED lighting.
The episode did not end without a bang - Sonu made an entry yet again, and performed songs like `Yeh dosti` and `Jumma chumma`, bringing Big B to shake a leg or two.
The show is based on the international show `Who Wants To Be A Millionaire`.

After revealing her fitness secrets and eating habits, when she was asked who was more beautiful, she said: "The Taj of course. For centuries, it`s been the most beautiful structure."
The shooting began early Thursday at the Mehtab Bagh, behind the Taj Mahal across the Yamuna.

‘Zanjeer’ review: A dismal take on
the old classic!
If remakes are supposed to pay
homage to erstwhile super hits, ‘Zanjeer’ hasn’t done a very good job of it.
‘Zanjeer’, the revenge saga of an honest cop trying to take
on the big bad wolf, retains the original premise. Even the motifs for the most
part – which is possibly the only thing that director Apoorva Lakhia stayed
true to the older version. Many argue that comparisons shouldn’t be drawn, but
if you venture out to remake a classic, then that remains unavoidable.
While Farhan Akhtar’s ‘Don’ was slick and modernised, and ‘Agneepath’ was darker and brutal, ‘Zanjeer’ doesn’t even try to reinvent itself in any good way.
It seems that the movie is riding on the fact that the Amitabh- Jaya Bachchan starrer was a superhit, and in the age of remakes, people will flock to the theatres just to see how the movie has been ripped apart.
Action movies, however bad or brainless, cannot bore you to death. There will be cars blowing up and baddies flying in all directions to spruce up the dull moments. Lakhia seems to be hell bent on proving the notion wrong. In ‘Zanjeer’ none of the drama and the grandeur of stunts, fights and blasts have been used. The action sequences are plain lazy to say the least. Even when the hero Vijay goes on to smite an entire neighbourhood, the scene looks unthought-of and stretched. The final sequence of him chasing Teja, is somewhat interesting, but builds into a disappointing end.
To compare Ram to Amitabh Bachchan might be a little unfair to the young actor, but one cannot forget what Vijay of the 1973 classic stands for. It is not for the lack of trying, but Ram Charan Teja seems to have just remembered to sulk for the most part of the ‘angry young man’ he is supposed to portray. If Amitabh Bachchan defined his 70’s image of an action hero with ‘Zanjeer’ in 1973, Teja in his debut Hindi film has failed in that aspect. His depiction of ACP Vijay Khanna is wooden, even though he tries to be broody and dramatic.
Priyanka Chopra as Mala seems to be trying too hard to be bubbly and be the comic relief in the movie. But her 'forever giggling on her own jokes'American born desi avatar gets annoying in many of her routines. Bad scripting added to a loud Priyanka, makes sure that she fails to show her prowess as an actor that she so effortlessly pulled off in ‘Agneepath’ or ‘Barfi’.
Prakash Raj as Teja was abysmal. He looks like a buffoon for most part, and apart from the fact that the audience has seen him kill some of the men off, his ‘meeeaaaow meeeaaaow’ repetition with Mahie Gill as Mona, will have Bollywood super villain – Ajit cringe in his own grave. Teja is not evil by miles, at times he simply shoots and kills some of his men off (comically- again), and Lakhia seems to be really eager to pass the movie through the censor board to make out the bad guy in the movie laughable. He looks rather unthreatening, and you are left wondering how he drives the entire oil mafia. Sometimes his dialogues are funny, but for the most part they are just stale sexual innuendoes.
Pran - who shone as Sher Khan- Vijay’s loyal bad guy-turned-good friend is played by Sanjay Dutt. Dutt however looks tired and bloated in his role.
It’s not just for Teja’s character; the script doesn’t hold a candle to the Salim-Javed’s original and fiery writing, even though a lot has been picked verbatim from the 1973 classic. The music, whether the tracks or the background score, is nothing to write home about. Even the item numbers are not sizzling enough to get the audience excited.
The movie was a disappointment through and through, and Apoorva Lakhia truly breaks hearts having remade a movie that remodelled Amitabh’s career and shot him to super stardom. Lakhia fails pretty badly to step into Prakash Mehra’s shoes.

Vishesh Films shot maximum films in
South Africa: Mukesh Bhatt
Durban: He has made 63 films so far
and out of them, nine were shot in South Africa, says filmmaker Mukesh Bhatt,
whose last hit production venture ‘Aashiqui 2’ was also filmed in the country.
"Vishesh Films (his production house) has shot maximum films in South Africa. We have shot nine films in the country," Bhatt said Thursday at the South Africa India Film and Television Awards (SAIFTA) press conference.
He added that his "appetite for looking for different locations never ceases", and that works as a driving force in exploring new places.
Bhatt, who canned films like ‘Blood Money’ and ‘Crook’ and the recent blockbuster ‘Aashiqui 2’, in South Africa, said he enjoys the warmth and hospitality of people of Durban so much that he calls "Durban a home away from home".
And why not? Indian movies and music are popular among the locals, and a large number of Indian Diaspora resides here.
The Indian film industry is celebrating its 100 years and according to Bhatt, SAIFTA, an initiative by Mumbai-based event company Celebrity Locker and KwaZulu-Natal Department of Economic Development and Tourism of Durban, will strengthen cultural ties between the two nations.
"We are now on a threshold of doing historical things together," said Bhatt, who is in the SAIFTA judges` panel along with Waheeda Rehman, Boman Irani, Farah Khan and Farhan Akhtar.
The award ceremony is Friday.

‘Shuddh Desi Romance’ review: A
Shuddh Desi confused plot!
There
are stories galore of runaway brides. Every nook and cranny of the country has
a tale to tell about last moment deserters of such kind who leave their grooms
waiting in the mandap. But have you ever heard of runaway grooms?
Probably not. No, he is not being forced into the marriage, nor is the bride
big, fat or ugly. She is smart, picture perfect and virtuous. And most
importantly, she is chosen by our groom. But this ‘Shuddh Desi Confusion’ gives
birth to the story of ‘Shuddh Desi Romance’, Maneesh Sharma’s directorial
venture.
Well to take it further, we have Raghu Ram (Sushant Singh Rajput), who is a certified tourist guide cum part time store salesman. Occasionally, he works for Tauji’s (Rishi Kapoor) agency that takes care of wedding preparations and even renders services of (fake) baraatis to any wedding party. On his way to his own wedding, Raghu encounters Gayatri (Parineeti Chopra), who is on board the wedding party as Raghu’s (hired) sister. Her persona immediately attracts the flippant lover Raghu, thereby giving birth to their ‘Shuddh Desi Romance’ with lightening speed. Raghu ditches his beautiful bride, Tara (debutant Vaani Kapoor) and comes to live-in with Gayatri in Jaipur. The neatly done scenes and commendable portrayal of their respective roles by Parineeti and Sushant give depth to the projection of modern day city romances. The lovers’ tiff, lust, love, and confusion on hot topics like marriage and commitment are shown nicely here. Adding more spice to the picture is Tauji’s character that is sensible, funny, mature, and every bit entertaining. But wait. The jilted bride Tara is not out of the picture for good as yet. So watch out for some more drama and of course, romance as the story moves on.
Maneesh Sharma’s film flirts with the theme of marriages as well as the mindset of today’s youth. But a tacky climax and a complex web of confused emotions woven around Raghu and Gayatri’s ‘love’ (or lack thereof) makes the audience lose sync with the story in the second half. It is difficult to understand after a point of time why Raghu is so hell confused between the two leading ladies of the film and it gets unnerving Gayatri and Raghu’s unexplained, non-committal attitude towards each other.
Thankfully, the actors have done their job well. Both Parineeti and Sushant have displayed the tiny nuances of their characters with finesse and boldness. Debutant Vaani Kapoor’s pretty visage is a breath of fresh air in the film. But even more likeable is the confidence she exudes on screen. She makes it hard to say that this is her first film. So Bollywood here has another long runner on the block. One gripe we have is that her character is made to do things that a sensible character like her would never be expected to do in those circumstances. Here we are indicating towards her association with the man who abandons her.
The music album of the film boasts of some really melodious tracks except the ‘Tere mere beech mein’ number. ‘Gulaabi’ stands out among the rest of the lot as it makes one feel sit back relaxed with eyes closed and paint a pretty pink picture with its beautiful music. On the other hand, the title number will perk up your mood on any dull day.
By the way, did we mention that director of photography Manu Anand has presented Jaipur so beautifully in most of the frames of the movie that you will feel visiting the pink city for a holiday this season?
Although not as good as ‘Band Baaja Baarat’ and ‘Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl’, Maneesh Sharma’s third directorial venture is jhataak, peppy and colourful but still turns out only to be a onetime watch!
